I just checked my SPCA handbook. They have tips for introducing one pet to another.
Introducing a cat to a dog:
1) Keep the kitty in a separate room for a couple of days. Let the animals sniff each other under the door. 2) Rub each animal with a towel or dryer sheet to reduce their individual scents. 3) Be patient. It may take time, but eventually the two pets will work out their relationship with each other.
Thanks, Ann. I left the apartment open while I was there, but I am separating them while I am gone. This morning I put Ana in a large closet with her litter box, food and water, and she used the box and ate most of her food. (Yay!) I confined her to the bedroom before I left where she quickly escaped under the bed, but I was sure to show her the window first. Antonio was a bit upset that I left him in the living room, but he'll live. Now she can get used to his whining because I know he'll be at the bedroom door whining for her all day. :)
I got my cat, Sanka from "Save a pet"....she was severely abused...anyway, it took her over 3 weeks to finally come out in sight...and she ran and sat on my lap...it was one of my best ever memories. :) When Ana is ready you will never get enough of her and either will Antonio.. :) Congratulations on your new cutie pie! Hugs, Annie

What a cute pic! I'm sure Ana will settle in and love Antonio like the rest of us do.
Keep us updated!
