Interrupting Jodi Beck Week...
... Elliott, the cat, is sick again. He had bloodwork done Thursday, and followed by a weekend of not eating, we were back at the vet this evening. Elliott is on just under 5 mgs of thyroid meds a day, mind you... but even given the medication he is on, his thyroid level was 12.8 (.5-5.8 is normal). Dear God. And he weighs a mere 6.5 lbs. It's sick, right?
So he received some fluids to make sure he's hydrated, and now we're home. The plan is to increase his dosage to 10 mgs per day (one pill in the AM and one pill in the PM). More bloodwork to come in a few weeks.
In addition to all of that, Elliott's heart murmur is more pronounced, and because it is likely a result of his thyroid problem, it's irreversible. The damage has been done. In addition, his liver enzymes are high, and this can be due to one of three reasons: (1) his uncontrolled thyroid condition, (2) a reaction to his medication (which is rare), or (3) a tumor. I'm stressed... but at least there's a short term plan.
We're off to bed to cuddle and sleep off our sadness.

Sending you and Elliot good juju!! I am so sorry you are going through this, a sick pet is sad...because they cannot tell you what they are feeling, but I am sure a good snuggle with Momma is great therapy for Elliot..

Sorry to hear Elliot is sick! How long has he been on the thyroid meds? It's weird that he only weighs 6.5 lbs...when animals or people have hypothyroidism, they're overweight, and underweight would be if his thyroid levels are less than 0.5. Did they know why he's underweight?
I'll be sending good thoughts your way...a sick pet always brings sadness and stress. I hope the cuddles help!
