I took my kid and his friend to the circus last year. I was looking forward to going since I hadn't been for many years.
While there I noticed how sad all the animals looked when they were walking around or performing. Especially the tigers. While I thought it'd be a great time I wound up finding the whole thing pretty depressing, and I'm no PETA freak or anything.
Maybe your seats won't be close enough to see the sorrow on the animals' faces, but I've decided to not support the circus anymore based on the perception I got of the animals' poor treatment and unhappiness last year.
OK. I don't normally recommend books, but in this case, it is right on target. It is really a good book.
"The circus, the Great Depression, a complex elephant, equally complex love, the mists and twists of memory articulated in the utterly winning voice of a very old man who's seen it all: these are the irresistible elements of Water for Elephants. Sara Gruen has written an utterly transporting novel richly full of the stuff of life."

To watch the guys play and have some beers?
ps- I am too impatient for things like that... it's likely that I will check your site 20 times today to see if you wrote a reply. Sheesh!
...to climb Mount Everest? Oh how about to an all night WarCraft event? That would satisfy one of your Tuesday list items.
Dear Charissa,

A slow boat to China?
Wow. I was way off. The circus sounds so fun. Have a great time. Also thank you for the update the suspense was killing me.
hooray! I love the circus... well, except for the clowns. Have a good time!
Between Disney On Ice, and the RB Circus, I took my nieces and nephews to those shows for about 6 years. It's one of our favorite shared memories.
That's not Disneyland, that's a block from my office...
The circus, as you probably know, travels the country chiefly by train. They also have a bunch of trailers for living and other support services.
There's a trainyard about two hundred feet from my front door.
Guess which train parks there every year?
