Obituary for Thomas H. Parks

Thomas H. Parks, 87, passed away after a long illness, Dec. 1, in his home.

Tom was a veteran of WWII where he served as a sergeant in the 457th B-17 group of the Army Air Corps based north of London at Glatton.

After the war, Tom started Tommys’ Sunoco Station and later with his friend, Don Kittle, started and ran the Akron Motor Clinic, both in Akron.

In his many years, he also worked for Motor Cargo and Consolidated Freightways where he earned many safe driving awards.

Tom enjoyed family and friends, working with his hands, fixing, repairing or building something, and then a cold beer and jokes. He often referred to himself as a jack of all trades, master of none.

Thomas was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Mackie Parks, and his parents, Clara and Thomas Parks, Sr. He is survived by his three children: Donald (Phyllis) Parks, Pamela (Alan) Costa and Dave Parks, grandchildren Melanie (Christopher) Pepe, David (Jeanne) Parks, Charissa Costa, and great grandchildren, Calista, Zavier, and Jude Pepe and Audrey Parks.

The family would like to thank Barb and Janet from Visiting Nurse Service for their care and kindness during his illness.

Friends may visit on Monday, Dec. 6th, from 6 to 8 o’clock at the Hennessy-Bagnoli Funeral Home, 936 N. Main St., Akron followed by a service officiated by Pastor David Parks II. Burial of the ashes will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, at 2613 Sackett Ave, Cuyahoga Falls on Tues. at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Haven of Rest or The Salvation Army.
